I’m a former active duty Marine and I don't see a problem with calling a Marine that served 20-30 years active a Retired Marine when he or she retires. Its not taking away anything from them if any thing its saying. “I served a go enlistment� as opposed to those who like I only served a 4-5 year enlistment. Both are and will always be Marines. One is Retired the other is a Veteran. If you are an officer you be one even after retiring unless you leave office your equip. That’s the only way you are no longer an officer serving at the pleasure of the President.
